Adding 2D Surface or Ground Boundaries in Unity

Continuing the tutorials on Unity, I’m going to show you how to add boundaries to the tile we added in the previous post.

We have this surface from the previous post.

The first thing we need to do is select the floor within Hierarchy:

And the options will appear on the right. Now select Add Component.

And search for Tilemap Collider 2D.

Once selected, it will be applied and you will see that it has been added automatically to the surface of the floor.

Now let’s make the surface more solid and fill those gaps it shows. To do this, click on Add Component again and search for Composite Collider 2D.

Now go to the created component Composite Collider 2D and select Used By Composite.

In the Rigidbody 2D itself (if we don’t have it, create it by clicking on Add Component > Rigidbody 2D), select Static instead of Dynamic.

And with this, our element has the boundaries set.

If we want to move the boundary, we can use the Offset axis indicated in the options.

In this case, I have moved the Y axis upwards (green line).
