How to Add an Application to Android TV on Google Play

Tiempo de lectura: 2 minutos

To add an app to Android TV using Google Play, we’ll need to create an Android listing as explained in the previous POST (https://devcodelight.com/como-subir-una-app-a-google-play-console/)

If we already have an app created, we’ll need to add the Android TV variant.

To do this, we open our app and go to Release

Here we select Setup > Advanced Settings

We go to the Form Factors tab

We click on Add form factor and choose Android TV

We will need to add new screenshots for Android TV.

Also, accept the review policy.

Now click on Manage to choose how to add the APK / OBB

In versions, you can choose the same channel as the APK/OBB of the mobile app, which means this app fits well on Android TV.

In my case, I generated another APK/OBB so I select use a specific channel for Android TV

This will allow us to add a different executable for Android TV but within the same app, preserving its downloads, etc…

Finally, and prior to uploading the Android TV images, select Enable Android TV to allow the app to be downloaded from Google Chrome Cast or Android TV.

Click on Save and they will review the app for us.
