Hello, today we are going to see how we can replace the WordPress URL with a new one.
We go to the WordPress files and search for wp-config.php.
We modify these lines (if they are not present, we add them and they will be used by default):
define('WP_HOME','https://domain.com');
define('WP_SITEURL','https://domain.com');
define('WP_HOME','https://domain.com');
define('WP_SITEURL','https://domain.com');
define('WP_HOME','https://domain.com');
define('WP_SITEURL','https://domain.com');
In https://domain.com, replace the URL with the new one.
Now we need to access the database, for which we can use PHPmyadmin.
We enter this SQL command:
- For WP_OPTIONS
UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = replace(option_value, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL') WHERE option_name = 'home' OR option_name = 'siteurl';
UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = replace(option_value, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL') WHERE option_name = 'home' OR option_name = 'siteurl';
UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = replace(option_value, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL') WHERE option_name = 'home' OR option_name = 'siteurl';
- For WP_POSTS
UPDATE wp_posts SET guid = replace(guid, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
UPDATE wp_posts SET post_content = replace(post_content, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
UPDATE wp_posts SET guid = replace(guid, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
UPDATE wp_posts SET post_content = replace(post_content, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
UPDATE wp_posts SET guid = replace(guid, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL'); UPDATE wp_posts SET post_content = replace(post_content, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
- For WP_POSTMETA
UPDATE wp_postmeta SET meta_value = replace(meta_value, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
UPDATE wp_postmeta SET meta_value = replace(meta_value, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
UPDATE wp_postmeta SET meta_value = replace(meta_value, 'OLD_URL', 'NEW_URL');
Replace OLD_URL with the correct URL you had on your WordPress website and NEW_URL with the new URL you want to add.
