We will learn today how to use the Zotero tool to link references in Word and as an example in JMIR format.

We need to install Zotero. We can also install a browser extension. I recommend creating an account that allows syncing.
Now that it is installed, we are going to add the JMIR format. To do this, we will Edit > Adjustments > Cite > Get additional styles…

We are looking for JMIR (Journal of Medical Internet Research).
We have it set up once it is added and will appear in the list.
Use in Word
NOW we go to the Zotero completion in Word, this completion is installed automatically if you discover the installation of Word on your computer.
Open Word → you will see the tab Zotero.
Place the cursor where you want the citation → press Add/Edit Citation.
A search box will appear → type author or title → select the article.
Zotero inserts a citation in format [1].

We now need to select it so that it uses its format, in order to do this we will go to Document Preferences
We will choose the correct one.
Tip extra: make sure each reference has a DOI or URL so that JMIR accepts your article without any issues.
Add references manually
We click on Add > Academic Article

Copy your old reference data:
Save → you can now use it in Word.
You can also use the automatic option by inserting the DOI, PMID, ISBN of the book, etc.

To save it with the connector, simply view the URL where the scientific article is located and click on the complement. It will be imported into the library.
