A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is an IT tool that allows users to securely connect to a private network over the Internet.

When connected to a VPN, all the Internet traffic from your computer or device is routed through a VPN server, which acts as an intermediary.

This allows users to send and receive data as if they were directly connected to the private network, providing access to private network resources from anywhere.

In addition to providing access to private network resources, VPNs can also be used to hide the user’s IP address and protect their privacy while browsing the Internet.

By using a VPN, users can prevent their online activities from being tracked and protect themselves from hackers and other forms of online surveillance.

Steps to Create a VPN

There are several ways to create a VPN, but here is a summary of the basic steps to create a VPN on a local network using Windows 10:

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel and go to “Network and Internet” and then to “Network and Sharing Center”.
  2. Click on “Set up a new connection or network” in the “Change your networking settings” section.
  3. Select “Connect to a workplace” and then click “Next”.
  4. Select “Use my Internet connection (VPN)” and then click “Next”.
  5. On the next screen, enter the VPN server address and the username and password you will use to connect. Then click “Create”.
  6. Now, in the Control Panel, go to “Network and Internet” and then to “Network and Sharing Center”.
  7. Click on “Change adapter settings” in the “Change your networking settings” section.
  8. Right-click on the VPN connection you just created and select “Properties”.
  9. Select the “Advanced options” tab and then select “Use my Internet connection (VPN)” from the “Network type” list. Then click “OK”.
  10. That’s it, now you can connect to the VPN by right-clicking on the connection and selecting “Connect”. Once connected, all your computer’s Internet traffic will be routed through the VPN.

I hope you like it, but above all, I hope it serves you well.
